July 30, 2007 - OpenGL.org Posts Headline On POGL 0.56 and OpenGL::Shader Release

Together, these modules abstract OpenGL ARB, Cg and GLSL shading languages, simplifying the use of 3D vertex/fragment shaders, and increasing portability between various GPUs.



July 6, 2007 - OpenGL.org Posts Headline On POGL / ImageMagick Collaboration

The POGL team adds new APIs to PerlMagick 6.3.5 to provide direct C pointer access to IM's image cache - resulting in tight OpenGL / ImageMagick integration, and significant increase in perfromance.

In parallel, the POGL team also releases OpenGL::Image, which abstracts loading/processing/saving images for OpenGL textures, FBOs and VBOs.

Graphcomp hosts and launches the official POGL developer site, with documentation tutorials, and 3D galleries.



April 26, 2007 - CPAN Posts First OpenGL Update in 5 Years

The POGL team submits Perl OpenGL 0.55 to CPAN.

This release adds support for MacOSX, FreeBSD and 52 new openGL extensions - including VBO, FBO and Vertex/Fragment Program extensions.



April 13, 2007 - CPAN's OpenGL Gets a New Owner

Bob Free is made the primary owner of CPAN's Perl OpenGL module.

Free has been developing 3D systems since 1973, and has been doing object-oriented Perl development since 1995.



April 12, 2007 - O'Reilly Posts OpenGL Article on Perl vs C

O'Reilly's Perl.com site posts a Lightning Article describing the benefits of using Perl OpenGL.
